Fun Facts About Rodeo
Cowboys and Cowgirls are an interesting bunch and so are their beliefs and superstitions. We have learned about some unique rodeo superstitions that have been around for years and are still alive and well at rodeos all across the country.
The fact that rodeo superstitions exist is not as strange as you might think. Sports such as baseball and football have a wealth of strange beliefs to help with lady luck, and rodeo is no exception. The deep history and rich traditions of rodeo help to keep alive these unique and interesting rodeo superstitions.
Believe them or not, here are 10 rodeo superstitions that I came across while competing:
Never set your cowboy hat on a bed. Yellow shouldn't be worn in the arena.
Shave before a performance.
Barrel Racers wear different color socks on each foot for luck.
Never compete with change in your pocket.
Don't eat peanuts or popcorn in the arena.
Never kick a paper cup at a rodeo.
For luck, Saddle Bronc riders always put right foot first in stirrups.
Eat a hot dog before the rodeo for luck.
Never read your horoscope on competition day.
