Lakers 102 Jazz 94
Kobe Bryant, playing with a sore throat, scored 35 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Utah Jazz, 102-94. And the Boston Celtics ended a 12-game road losing streak after they beat a Houston Rockets team that was without its star players.
Utah's Derek Fisher faced his former team on Monday night as the Jazz took on the Los Angeles Lakers in Salt Lake City.
The two teams were well matched and kept the game close throughout. Just over two minutes were left in the first quarter when Matt Harpring passed the ball to Fisher for an open three pointer to tie the game at 16.
Utah took the lead after halftime on a long jump shot by Derek Fisher. His foot was on the line so it only counted for two points but the Jazz were up 59-58.
In the last quarter, Los Angeles had a 85-82 lead with 4 minutes 24 to go. Two minutes later they'd built their advantae to 92-84. Bryant missed a three pointer and Maurice Evans got the rebound. Evans missed his putback but Bryant came flying in to slam it down and give the Lakers a 10 point lead.
Utah couldn't match up with Bryant, who finished with a game-high 35 points helping Lakers beat the Jazz 102-94.
