But after his absolute lockdown job on Leandro Barbosa, who had been torching the tournament at 27 ppg, you've got to put Kobe Bryant back in that discussion. The USA throttled Brazil , 113-76. The real revelation, though, was Kobe holding Barbosa to four points on 1 for 7 shooting. Bryant used to be quite the defender, until he bulked up a little and decided to focus on scoring. Looks like with his recent twenty-pound weight loss, he's regained that old fire. Barbosa certainly noticed a difference. From ESPN.com: "He don't guard like that in the NBA, but he did tonight and I was impressed," Barbosa told ESPN.com. "He came to guard me, and that was good practice for me. I learned a lot of things the way he was guarding me." To put things in perspective: this is the Brazilian Blur. The fastest guy in the NBA, and nearly unstoppable if he gets any room to accelerate. Kobe deserves credit for this returning to form; looks like he found the challenge he wasn't getting from opposing defenders.
