The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming to town, and they might be hurting when they see the team that they're leading scorer from last year joined. Antawn Jamison became a Laker during the off season, and Luke Walton was sent to the Cavs. Jamison led the Cavs in scoring last season, but will most likely be coming off the bench with the Lakers due to the unusual amount of talent that the Lakers have been able to accumulate. After Lebron James left the city for Miami , Cleveland was hoping for a resurgence with some other talented players, but it looks as though the Cavs may have to suffer a rebuilding year or two before they can get back into the swing of things.
The Lakers have put together one of the most impressive teams that the NBA has ever seen. Kobe Bryant, one of the NBA's all time greats, will be joined by assist man Steve Nash, a former MVP who will take over the duties of the point guard position. Meta World Peace will anchor the small forward position, while the other forwards are two of the best big men in the league and/or world. Pau Gasol knows what it's like to win for the Lakers, but he will share space with Dwight Howard this season, who is arguably the best post player of this era. To have a squad like this, many people are expecting that the Lakers are a sure shot to win the NBA Championship. Add Antawn Jamison into the fold and you'll start to see why watching the Lakers this year is going to be so fun.
The Cavs have held onto Anderson Varejao, who is a throw-back player of sorts. He is always hustling around the court, doing whatever his team needs in order to win. These kinds of players are rare today, but the Cavs are going to be counting on his fierce play and leadership during the season. Daniel Gibson will also be looked at to provide a much needed scoring presence. They will come prepared to play, you can count on that.
