Preview: Minnesota At L.A. Lakers
When: 10:30 PM ET, Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
THE STORY: Minnesota hardly got its usual scoring production from Kevin Love (10 points) and Ricky Rubio (2 on 1-of-8 shooting), but it was not needed. Reserves Derrick Williams and Michael Beasley each scored 27 points and the Timberwolves turned a close game into a shocking 109-97 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night. The Timberwolves will try to do the same Wednesday, staying at Staples Center to meet the Lakers, who could be without superstar Kobe Bryant. In addition to a broken nose, Bryant also suffered a concussion from a hard foul by the Miami Heat Gaurd Dwyane Wade in Sunday’s All-Star Game.
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, Fox Sports North (Timberwolves), Fox West (Lakers)
TICKETS: Timberwolves Vs Lakers Tickets are still onsale. Tickets start around $40.00 a ticket and go up from there.
ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (18-17): Everything seemed to click for Williams and Beasley in the fourth quarter, each scoring 13 points. Williams shot 9 of 10 overall and made all four of his 3-pointers. Beasley was 11 of 15 and made all three of his 3-pointers. “I was picking my spots and knocking down open shots,” Williams said. “Kevin didn’t have one of his best nights, so people had to step up.” Love took a shot to the ribs by DeAndre Jordan in the third quarter and left briefly. He said he expects to be sore but added, “I got it X-rayed and everything seems to be fine.”
ABOUT THE LAKERS (20-14): Bryant will be re-evaluated Wednesday and must complete a series of steps to confirm he is healthy enough to play. Bryant has played in all 34 games this season despite a torn ligament in his wrist. While Bryant might not play, center Andrew Bynum (right knee) will be full strength after playing just six minutes in his first All-Star Game. The Lakers have averaged 107.4 points during a 16-game winning streak over the Timberwolves that dates to a 117-107 double-overtime loss in Minnesota on March 6, 2007.
BUZZER BEATERS:
1. The 16 straight wins by the Lakers in this series are tied for the longest active streak by one team over another. The Portland Trail Blazers has also defeated Minnesota 16 consecutive times. The Timberwolves close a four-game trip at Portland on Saturday.
2. Minnesota’s 72 bench points was the best in the NBA this season two from the franchise record.
PREDICTION: Lakers 94, Timberwolves 89.

Preview: L.A. Lakers At Dallas
When: 9:30 PM ET, Wednesday, February 22, 2012
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
Mavericks Vs Lakers Tickets completely sold out for this game. The Mavericks return on April 15th to the Staples Center to face the Lakers in LA!
THE STORY: After an easy 103-92 victory over Portland on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers got together for a players-only meeting, emphasizing that they must only worry about their jobs and not off-court distractions. The Lakers, just 5-11 on the road, will try to head into the All-Star break with momentum, playing a tough back-to-back at Dallas on Wednesday and at Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. “I think we just have to go (on the road) and play with confidence and get rest,” center Andrew Bynum said. “We get rest, we’re good.” Dallas already has momentum, winning seven of eight after beating Boston 89-73 on Monday.
TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
ABOUT THE LAKERS (19-13): Backup guard Steve Blake had his best game of the season against Portland, scoring 17 points and making five of six 3-pointers. “The way that Steve Blake shot the ball tonight, he was extremely efficient,” Lakers coach Mike Brown said. “If those guys can continue doing that and running the team and then defending the way they did tonight, that’s all we need from our point guard spot.” In his last five games against Dallas, NBA leading scorer Kobe Bryant has missed all 16 of his 3-point attempts.
ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (21-12): Much has been made about Pau Gasol possibly being traded by the Lakers, but don’t look for the Mavericks to do the same with Lamar Odom. Yes, Odom was acquired in a trade before the season, but has largely been a disappointment. He averages 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds, about half of his career averages. Dallas seeks its fifth consecutive home victory and has limited its last four home opponents to 85.8 points per game and 38.9 percent shooting.
BUZZER BEATERS:
1. The Lakers have won 11 of the last 14 regular-season meetings with the Mavericks, including three in a row.
2. Dallas guard Jason Terry has averaged 24 points in the last five home games against the Lakers.
3. In a 73-70 victory Jan. 16, the Lakers held the Mavericks to their lowest scoring game in series history.
PREDICTION: Mavericks 96, Lakers 91.
The Lakers dont return home to the Staples Center until February 29th against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Timberwolves Vs Lakers Tickets are onsale now.

Preview: L.A. Lakers at Phoenix
When: 8:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 19, 2012
Where: US Airways Center, Phoenix, Arizona
TICKETS: We still have Suns Vs Lakers Tickets available for tonights game at the US Airways Center in Phoenix AZ.
THE STORY: The Los Angeles Lakers look to sweep a home-and-home and win their fourth in a row Sunday when they visit the Phoenix Suns. Kobe Bryant scored 36 points and the Lakers scored a season high in a 111-99 victory over the Suns on Friday. “Obviously, Kobe went off,” said Lakers center Andrew Bynum, who had 17 points and 14 rebounds. “He had his points, and the rest of us were just kind of filling in the gaps.” The Suns will have to try to better job on the boards. The Lakers outrebounded them 52-36 Friday and 49-35 earlier this season.
TV: 8 p.m. ET, KCAL (Lakers), FS Arizona (Suns)
ABOUT THE LAKERS (18-12): Bryant, averaging 42 points in two games against the Suns this season, said it doesn’t matter what Phoenix player guards him – as long as it is just one, the Suns will have their work cut out. Grant Hill had been doing a pretty good job, but picked up his fourth foul, and Bryant scored 18 points in the third quarter as Hill sat. “Doesn’t matter if Grant’s in the game or not,” Bryant said. “If they’re not going to double (team) and I have room to go to work, I’m going to go to work.”
ABOUT THE SUNS (12-19): Steve Nash, 38, leads the NBA in assists (10.9) and tied his season high with 17 Friday, but was lamenting his season-high seven turnovers. “They did a good job (Friday) but I also just didn’t capitalize on opportunities. I had some careless turnovers. We just dug ourselves into a hole.” With his NBA clock ticking down Nash also said he won’t push for a trade to a contender. The Suns had a season-high 32 assists on 41 field goals, and made all 11 shots in the first quarter.
BUZZER BEATERS:
1. Bryant is averaging 31.3 points against the Suns in the last 24 meetings and Los Angeles is 18-6 in those games.
2. Bynum and Suns center Marcin Gortat are two of three players (along with Orlando’s Dwight Howard) averaging 15 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
3. Phoenix has lost four straight games in the series and last defeated the Lakers in Phoenix on Dec. 28, 2009.
PREDICTION: Lakers 96, Suns 89.
