The Laker Girls are referenced in The Witch and in Him. Elizabeth Anne Allen revealed that the actresses who played the cheerleaders in the episode The Witch, were trained by The Laker Girls:
"Actually we learned with the Laker Girls and the LA clipper girls. They were great. They were checking our moves and they have real dance backgrounds, so they were throwing in stuff. We were like, "What, what?" Still, it helped that I could be pretty bad."
In Him, Laker Girls cheerleader Cheryl says, "Or we could all use chairs. Like the Laker Girls."
Laker Girls are also in the lyrics of the play Spamalot

Arthur:
Stand aside, Mrs. Galahad while the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls
Welcome your son to my army.
The most famous Laker Girl was Paula Abdul;
After high school, while she was attending college at Cal State Northridge, Paula looked for a part time job. "A friend of mine heard about some auditions for the Laker Girls." She remembers. "I thought, sure, let's go try it out but, little did I know there would be hundreds of girls there trying out. I thought it would be a longshot to get selected, but I tried out anyway." Little did Paula know, and expect, that the Lakers would call her back to tell her she was selected as one of the 12 girls on the squad. After Paula recieved the call to join the Laker Girls, she dropped out of college to pursue her career as an all around entertainer. This was an opportunity for her to do something she has always loved. Her mother, however, was not pleased with Paula's decision to quit college. "She was afraid that this (The Laker Girls) might not work out for me." She says. "I was very upset, but little did I know that her career would turn out this way. It turned out to be a good thing." Says Lorraine. The job for the Laker Girls did not pay much. Paula and the Laker Girls only made $50 a game, but she knew that alot of celebrities in Hollywood attended Lakers games. She felt it would be good exposure and give her a chance to get noticed.
